Data Center Services Newsletter Archive

In 2005, the 79th Texas Legislative Session ushered in a new focus on technology collaboration. Through HB1516, the governor and state legislature directed agencies to take an enterprise approach to managing the state’s investment in information and communications technology.

Data center and disaster recovery services are one of the first areas for enterprise-wide coordination. On a scale not seen before in Texas, twenty-eight agencies—representing some of the state’s largest data center environments—are consolidating to gain economies of scale, share resources, and improve security and disaster recovery capability.

To engage agencies and establish the data center services program, DIR created the Data Center Download newsletter.  The newsletter included current topics and other items of general interest to explain objectives, timelines, and groups involved with data center services.  It was distributed by email to all state stakeholders and posted on the DIR website from January 2006 through June 2008.  Publication has ceased as data center services has moved from a start-up and initiation phase to operational phase.  Historical copies of the newsletter are below.
