CSIRT Program 

Vision

The TX-CSIRT is the State of Texas frontline organization and recognized leader in cyber incident response. Membership in TX-CSIRT enables state agencies to more effectively respond to security incidents and to mitigate the damage caused by those incidents by providing access to timely training, team based scenarios, best practices, tools, and trusted communication with member teams.

Mission Statement

TX-CSIRT is a statewide confederation of trusted computer incident response members who cooperatively handle critical security incidents and promote incident prevention programs in support of the State of Texas information system infrastructure. The TX-CSIRT may provide the following:

  • Oversee the Cyber Incident Response Team to respond to major cyber incidents affecting State agencies.
  • Conduct cyber security incident simulation exercises to improve the State’s preparation and response capabilities.
  • Work with law enforcement entities during cyber crime events affecting State agencies.
  • Develop and share technical information, tools, methodologies, processes and best practices to protect the State’s information systems.
  • Encourage and promote the development of team member skill sets, quality security products, policies & services
  • Develop and promulgate best computer security practices
  • Promote the expansion of the Critical Incident Response Team and membership from State organizations.
  • Team members in conjunction with the Department of Information Resources use their combined knowledge, skills and experience to promote a safer and more secure statewide electronic environment.
