Texas Geographic Information Council
Welcome to the home page of the Texas Geographic Information Council (TGIC). TGIC was created by the Texas Legislature in 1997 as the primary coordinating body for geographic information systems (GIS) in Texas state government. The Council includes representatives from 43 state, local, and federal agencies and universities. The Executive Administrator of the Texas Water Development Board and the Executive Director of the Texas Department of Information Resources serve as the executive sponsors of TGIC.
TGIC’s recent activities and planned initiatives are described in its latest Biennial Report. Other TGIC publications include the Guidelines for Geospatial Web Services Accessibility.
Council meetings are held quarterly. In addition, a smaller Steering Committee meets monthly. For additional information about how the Council operates, see TGIC’s charter.
